Offices and Facilities CLOSED to the Public

Post Date:03/15/2020 7:06 PM

March 15, 2020: Offices and Facilities of the City of Locust Grove will be CLOSED to the Public beginning Monday, March 16, 2020 through March 30, 2020 or until such time as the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency is over. Our staff will be reporting to our facilities as normal except under further notice.

For those making Utility Payments (Water, Sewer, Sanitation), we are waiving late fees as well as any phone charges on your MasterCard or Visa debit or credit card. As always, you may make payment online by accessing our website www.locustgrove-ga.gov for the link. If you do not know how to access our online billing or need the necessary information to allow payment, please call us at (770) 957-5043 and speak with one of our Utility Department agents.

The drop box is available in the front of the “LGI – Locust Grove Institute” City Hall Building for drop payments. We ask that all payments be in Money Order, Check, or Credit/Debit card during this period. We are also not disconnecting service for this short period of time in order to allow for those who may become ill during this extraordinary time.

For those seeking to establish or change service, we are working on ways to allow this to happen using our drop box and phone system and will have more information on Monday. Please call us at (770) 957-5043 and ask for Utility Department for further information.

For Business License, Planning and Zoning, and Building Permits, we are working on a system for a drop box or in-vehicle drive-in service to allow these activities to continue without causing severe disruption. Building Inspections will continue as normal unless stopped by order of the Governor or other agency for precautionary measures.

Public Safety facilities will be open to the extent currently allowed for transactions due to the design and limitation of access/interaction with our staff for payment of fines and other activities. All Municipal Court dates are cancelled through March 30 at the minimum. All persons will be notified to a new date.

To our staff, we are aware that challenges due to childcare or care of someone else otherwise impaired may require modification of work schedule or time off with leave. We ask that you contact your manager or department head if modification is required. We are allowing those to Telework as a possible option on a limited basis if proper network access is available.

As for now, our City Council meetings will be held on regular schedule due to the ability to practice proper social distancing with the large space in our courtroom/council chamber. This may be altered if there are changes in the broadening of the virus and any emergency declarations by our Governor or other authority or as moved by the Mayor and City Council.

We urge all our citizens and customers to follow the guidance of the CDC and the Governor by staying home unless necessary for work or grocery/pharmacy trips, practice social distancing of at least six feet (6’) between you and another person, wash hands for a minimum of 20 seconds with soap and water (or hand sanitizer containing more than 60% alcohol as recommended by CDC), and remaining home if sick or showing symptoms of COVID-19.
