March 12, 2020 Henry County Senior Centers CLOSED:

In an abundance of caution and in consideration of recently released information on the coronavirus COVID-19, Henry County will temporarily close its four Senior Centers beginning Monday, March 16, and centers are expected to remain closed until further notice. County manager Cheri Hobson-Matthews, in consultation with staff and after briefings with the Emergency Management Agency and the District 4 Department of Public Health, made the decision as a preemptive measure to best protect the county’s senior population, who have been identified by the health care community as the most vulnerable population being affected by the coronavirus COVID-19.

Although the centers will be closed to the public, senior services, such as Meals on Wheels and in-home services, will continue for those who currently receive them. Henry County Senior Centers will also continue to serve lunch meals from the closed senior centers with an innovative drive-thru service. Clients who are already registered with Senior Services will be permitted to purchase meals in a drive-thru line, Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

For more information, or if you have any questions, please contact Ann Marie Quincey at 770-288-6975.

March 12, 2020 Henry County Schools to close starting March 16, 2020:

From Henry County Schools Superintendent Davis: Read the full statement HERE.

In consultation with the Department of Public Health and the Georgia Department of Education, Henry County Schools has made the decision to close schools starting Monday, March 16. All district-associated activities have been suspended effective immediately. Families should anticipate schools and facilities being closed for two weeks and potentially longer.  This extended closure will allow for a thorough cleaning of all facilities and district property, for district officials to implement continuity plans, and for state officials to continue to assess the current situation regarding Coronavirus in Georgia.

Henry County Schools is prepared to begin a remote learning plan that will allow students to continue their learning using their district-issued device or printed materials.  Students will receive information from their school about the activities available to be continued at home. Teachers will have digital office hours for students and parents to ask questions or get assistance.
