Latest News and Upcoming Events: 

  • NOTE: Road Work: Sections of sidewalk and travel lanes near the front of the Locust Grove Elementary School as part of utility location for the reconstruction of LG-Griffin Road and drainage improvements. This project will remove a section of the existing sidewalk and require some reconstruction of LG-Griffin Road in order to prevent unnecessary ponding of water. Project is now wrapping up and should be completed by July 1, 2013.
  • NOTE: Change will be coming to the Intersection of Jackson Street and Club Drive. Effective April 15, 2013, the Jackson Street traffic will no longer stop. Only Club Drive traffic approaching this intersection must stop.
  • Next City Council regular meeting is Monday, July 1, 2013 at 7:00 PM.  Posted Agenda may be found on the Administration Department Page prior to the meeting date. Location is now the new Courtroom and Council Chambers at the rear of the City Hall Building.
  • Next SPLOST IV Committee Meeting June 20, 2013 at 6:00 PM at the Henry County Administration Building in McDonough, GA. This committee is a creation of the BOC of which the city manager is shares the municipal seat with Hampton, McDonough and Stockbridge. Responsibility for the process of development of a final project list for the proposed SPLOST IV program. This meeting focuses on all county districts, the cities and for other county needs.
  • FY 2013 Budget. DOCUMENT. Adopted by the Mayor and City Council on December 3, 2012 at the regular City Council meeting.
  • New Official Zoning Map. The City Council has held a public hearing on a proposed Official Zoning Map. A copy of the map may be found HERE. Adopted on October 1, 2012.
  • New Sign Ordinance is now in effect. ORDINANCE
  • ON-STREET PARKING REGULATIONS REVISED. On April 4, 2011, the regulations for on-street parking within the City was revised. ORDINANCE Please note: This does relieve anyone from the prohibition of the parking of commercial vehicles within residential subdivisions.
  • E-Verify is now in effect for the City. Our E-Verify ID is 247882 effective November 4, 2009. Part of the GA Immigration Reform Act (See O.C.G.A Section 13-10-91).
  • Veterans' Project: The City is working to honor its veterans on this website and in more substantive forms later this year. In the newsletter, the form for submission to the project was mentioned. Form [click link].
  • Construction  on Sidewalks/Paths along Tanger Boulevard. A second ARRA "Stimulus" project is nearly complete along Tanger Boulevard and LG-Griffin Road. The project installed wide sidewalks connecting the Post Office, the Locust Grove Elementary School, the Library, the Linden Park Neighborhoods, and Carriage Gate to the Tanger Outlet Center area. Southeatern Site Development was the winning bidder at $367,650. This project was a ARRA Stimulus Project. UPDATE: Project is being extended at additional cost by Henry County, the City, and GaDOT to rectify drainage concerns of the original project. Expected completion December 2012.
