Attractions
Historic Downtown. The area along Highway 42 between Bill Gardner Parkway and LG-Griffin Road comprises the Locust Grove Downtown Development Authority Historic Downtown. Since 2003, the City has invested nearly $2 million to improve the streetscape with sidewalks, brick pavers, and the new Mayors' Walk Park. A growing number of shops and services have either located or expanded in the area, with more opportunities coming in the next few years. Many of the city events are held at the Municipal Complex lawn or in the downtown area along Highway 42 and Cleveland Street. Completed in early 2011 is the new Trailhead park on the site of the former Public Works, including 35 parking spaces and landscaped park with wide multiuse trails and bicycle racks. Also stay to view the passing trains along the Norfolk-Southern Railroad. Over 40 trains per day will pass through the City, linking the Port of Savannah to Atlanta and points across the country. The latest edition to Downtown is The French Market, a combination of gift store, restaurant, and bar serving cuisine inspired from New Orleans and traditional fare.
