The City of Locust Grove, Georgia seeks applicants for the position of City Manager.

JOB SUMMARY . This high-level executive management position is responsible for directing and supervising the operations of the City of Locust Grove. Must manage and supervise all departments of the City to achieve goals using available resources. Responsibilities include preparing the annual budget, providing leadership and direction in the development of short and long range plans, advising the Mayor and City Council of financial conditions and current and future needs of the City, and monitoring and ensuring compliance with State/Federal regulations. DESCRIPTION OF CITY: Locust Grove is one of the fastest-growing cities in Georgia, with an increase of over 500% in land area (11 square miles) and more than doubling its population (4,751 estimated in 2007) since 2000. Mayor and 6-member Council. $13.7 million budget; 55 employees. Located at the southern end of Henry County, 33 miles from downtown Atlanta and 47 miles north of downtown Macon. Population expected to reach nearly 40,000 by 2025. Major developments include Strong Rock Christian School, a proposed Henry Medical Center expansion at a new South Henry Campus, over 1.5 million square feet of retail/office space, and 6,000 residential units zoned for construction within next 10-15 years. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration or related field; Master’s degree preferred; twelve (12) years of progressively responsible experience in local government, or related field; equivalent combination of education and experience.
